Four Company Section Boys, accompanied by the Captain, and an Officer from 44th Edinburgh took part in the FDF's Julsølejr 2006 at Sletten in Denmark.  We joined our hosts, FDF Storvorde-Sejlflod and helped build our camp.  We slept in tents - but everything else was constructed from logs and rope - including our kitchen, dining facilities, bathroom and hot shower and a sand-pit for the younger children.  Aside from pioneering on a grand scale, we took part in wall- and tree- climbing, formed "patrols" with the Danes to participate in a competition consisting of 11 challenges, joined with the 1st Bearsden to teach Scottish Country Dancing and took part in large "campfire" shows with the other 13,000 participants from all over the world.  Boys also made use of the Waterpark (flumes etc also constructed of logs, rope, tarpaulin and plastic pipes!), and climbed Denmark's highest peak (at around 450', not quite a Munro - but a nice walk to the top, offering splendid views of the Julsø).

After the camp, we spent the weekend with FDF Storvorde-Sejlflod, staying in private homes and enjoying typical Jutland hospitality.
